SRINAGAR: A 23-year-old Bangladesh national was arrested at Mirzapur railway station after he was found travelling without valid documents aboard the Brahmaputra Mail, officials said on Sunday.
The man, identified as Riyaz Ahmed, a resident of Habiganj in Bangladesh, was apprehended by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel on Saturday night following an alert.
Officials said Ahmed was travelling in an air-conditioned coach of the express train, which operates between Kamakhya in Assam and Delhi, without a ticket.
A preliminary inquiry indicated that Ahmed intended to travel to Kashmir and was heading towards Delhi, officials said.
During questioning and verification, he was found not to be carrying a valid passport, visa or any other document authorising his entry into India, they added.
Further verification and legal proceedings are under way.
