SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir North Kashmir Police in Baramulla have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession during a checkpoint operation in Tangmarg area.
According to officials, a police team from Police Station Tangmarg, headed by the Station House Officer, intercepted an Alto vehicle bearing registration number JK04E-1076 at a checkpoint. “During the search, nine grams of heroin-like substance were recovered from the possession of the two occupants.”
“The accused have been identified as Zahid Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir, a resident of Chanapora, and Mudasir Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Ahad Lone, a resident of Treran. Both individuals were taken into custody and shifted to the police station. The vehicle used in the act has also been seized. A case under FIR No. 34/2025 has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg under relevant sections of law. Further investigation is underway,” police said.
Police have appealed to the public to cooperate in the ongoing campaign against drug abuse and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or by dialling 112.
