SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police arrested two alleged drug peddlers in Baramulla and Ganderbal districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
“In Baramulla, a police party from Police Station Baramulla, headed by the SHO, established a checkpoint at Khawajabagh. During checking, one individual identified as Rayees Ahmad Khan, son of Gh Mohammad Khan, resident of Sherwani Colony Baramulla, was intercepted. On search, 15 grams of a heroin-like substance were recovered from his possession. He was arrested and remains in custody,” police said.
In a similar incident in Ganderbal, a police party from Police Post Nagbal intercepted a suspicious individual during naka checking at Gratbal Crossing. “A Fukki-like substance was recovered from his possession. He was identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat, son of Gh Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, resident of Rangil Ganderbal. He was arrested and is currently in police custody,” police said.
Cases under relevant provisions of law have been registered at the respective police stations, and further investigations are underway.
Police have urged the public to report any information regarding drug peddling or related activities to the nearest police station or by dialling 112.
