SRINAGAR: A low-intensity explosion rattled the tranquillity of the village Doongi-Brahmana in the Rajouri district, leaving two young girls injured and sparking a swift response from security forces. Tasveer Kouser (10) and Saima Kouser (15) sustained hand injuries after coming into contact with an unidentified substance while returning from school on Wednesday.

Initially mistaken for burns from firecrackers, the severity of the injuries soon pointed to a low-intensity explosion, evidenced by the damage inflicted on their fingers, according to officials familiar with the incident.

In the wake of the explosion, a joint operation was launched by the police and Rashtriya Rifles troops to secure the area. The intensive search operation resulted in the discovery of over two dozen detonators, raising concerns about potential further threats in the region.

The ongoing search operation aims to ascertain the nature and origin of the detonators, with senior Army and police officials closely monitoring the investigation on-site.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the recovery of the detonators, leaving authorities on high alert as they continue efforts to ensure the safety and security of the village and its residents.
