Two Held in Bandipora Theft Case, Stolen Property Recovered

   

SRINAGAR: Police have arrested two persons in connection with a theft case registered at Police Station Sumbal in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, with the stolen property recovered from the residence of one of the accused, officials said on Saturday.

The case was registered after police received a complaint on September 18 regarding the theft of various items at Ganastan, Nowgam. FIR No. 209/2026 was registered at Police Post Nowgam, Police Station Sumbal, under Sections 305, 331(4) and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

During the investigation, police arrested Shabir Ahmed Wani, son of Ghulam Qadir Wani, a resident of Sadunara. During questioning, Wani allegedly disclosed his involvement in the offence along with an accomplice and identified the place where the stolen property had been kept.

Based on his disclosure, police recovered the stolen property from his residence.

Further investigation led police to identify the second accused as Mohammad Shafi Dar, son of Abdul Samad Dar, also a resident of Sadunara. Police alleged that Dar was involved in the commission of the offence and subsequently arrested him.

Both accused have been taken into custody, while further interrogation is underway to ascertain whether they are linked to other theft cases and to identify any additional persons allegedly connected with the offence.
