Two Houses Damaged, Firefighter Injured in South Kashmir Blaze

   

SRINAGAR: Two double-storey residential houses were damaged, and one firefighter was injured in a fire incident in the Kadipora area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday evening.

An official told news agency JKNS that the fire broke out unexpectedly, spreading rapidly and causing extensive damage to the upper portions of both houses.

Fire tenders, Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel, and local residents promptly launched a joint operation to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby structures. After sustained efforts, the fire was successfully extinguished.

He added that the affected houses belonged to Manzoor Ahmad Nanwaye and the late Abdul Majeed Nanwaye.

Unfortunately, a firefighter, identified as Muhammad Shafi Bhat, was injured in the incident and was immediately rushed to GMC Anantnag for treatment. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, the official said.

Meanwhile, the police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire. (JKNS)
