Tightening noose against the violators, Pahalgam Development Authority on Friday destroyed at least two under construction structures in the rich picnic spot.

The twin huts being constructed in Maura and Hardu Kichlu area of Pahalgam were razed to ground, a PDA official said.

There is blanket ban on construction in Pahalgam, imposed by J&K High Court till new Master Planned is framed after a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed by Peoples Welfare Pahalgam.

“We will work strongly against the violators and there will be no compromise,” said Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pahalgam Development Authority, Mushtaq Simnani.

“As soon as we receive any information regarding any illegal construction we will not spare and will destroy that.”

Simnani who joined this month as CEO PDA attributed the violations surfacing to his predecessor saying, “I started a new operation from the day I joined to not allow any sort of illegal construction.”

However, people allege that it was mere a “show and influential hoteliers mange to construct whenever they wish to”.

“These rules are for small people why don’t they go against the giants who are facing impunity from years together,” alleged a local.
