SRINAGAR: Two persons drowned in the Chenab River in Doda district on Thursday, following which a rescue operation has been initiated.
A senior police officer told the news agency KS that the two individuals, namely Rohit Singh, 25, son of Remesh Kumar (serving in the Army), and Sunil Kumar, 24, son of Ram Raj, both residents of Durga Nagar Khallani (Doda), drowned in the Chenab River near village Durga Nagar while washing their hands after performing the last rites of their relative on the riverbank.
He further mentioned that police officers are on the spot, supervising the search and rescue operation launched by the Police and the team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), along with locals from the area. (KS)
