Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two militant associates affiliated with Hizb ul-Mujahideen outfit in Naranag area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, police said.

A police spokesman in  a statement said, “On a credible input Ganderbal police along with security forces arrested two militant associates identified as Chandi Khatana and Wajid Ali Khatana both residents of Jandiwada Rajouri.”

“According to police records both the arrested militant associates were part of proscribed outfit HM and were acting as couriers for active militants. They were also responsible for supplying militants with logistics, transporting arms and ammunition and guiding active militants for carrying out attacks in the area thereby strengthening the networks and adding to the militant infrastructure in the area,” he said.

“Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession. All these incriminating materials have been seized by police to probe their complicity in crimes,” he added.

“Case FIR No. 59/2019 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Kangan. They remain in police custody and further investigation in the matter is in progress,” said police spokesman in a statement.
