Two Militants Killed, Five Soldiers Injured in Kathua Gunfight

   

SRINAGAR: Two militants have been killed while five soldiers, including an officer, sustained injuries in an ongoing encounter in the Juthana area of Kathua.

Official sources said that security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants. As the forces moved in on the suspected location, the militants opened fire, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.

During the encounter, five soldiers, including SDPO Border DySP Dheeraj Katoch, sustained injuries. Among them, three are reported to be in critical condition. The injured personnel were immediately shifted to a medical facility for treatment.

They said that the operation is still underway in the area. Additional reinforcements have been rushed to prevent any escape attempts by remaining militants, if any.

Security forces have intensified the search operation in the vicinity to ensure the complete elimination of the threat. (JKNS)
