SRINAGAR: Two more civilians were injured in shelling from across the Line of Control in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, taking the total number of injured to five.

Official sources said that two more civilians identified as Akhtar Bano (16) year-old, and Idress Mushtaq (12)  were injured in the shelling.

Both the injured have been hospitalized, they said.

A cow of Gulzar Ah Mangral also died in the shelling at Silpather Nambla village, said a local resident.

Two injured in cross-LoC shelling in Uri

Earlier, three persons identified as Sakeena Begum, Maqbool Ah Mangral and Ahmad Sheikh were injured in the firing.

A police officer said that Pakistan army initiated the “unprovoked ceasefire” violation by firing mortar shells and small arms along the LoC in Uri.

One more injured in cross-LoC shelling in Uri

The troops manning the fence responded strongly which resulted in a heavy exchange of cross-LoC shelling in these areas, he said.
