Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said that district Police Sopore successfully secured conviction of two persons who were involved in the killing of a civilian identified as Suhail Ahmad Sofi resident of Dobgah Sopore.

“On 19.03.2013 PS Sopore registered a case FIR No 48/2013 pertaining to the killing of a civilian by the militants,” said the spokesman.

“Accordingly during the course of investigation police arrested both the persons identified as Naveed Baloch of Multan Pakistan who was then operating in Sopore area as commander of proscribed outfit LeT and his accomplice Feroz Dar resident of resident of Sopore for their involvement in the killing of civilian Suhail Sofi,” he said.

“Based on the circumstantial evidences collected from the scene of crime and other evidences collected by the investigating officers during the course of investigations, Hon’ble Court today convicted both the persons and sentenced them to life imprisonment for their involvement in killing of civilian Suhail Sofi,” said police spokesman in a statement
