AIP chief spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said the projects were included in an e-NIT issued by the Office of the Chief Engineer, PMGSY (JKRRDA), Kashmir, under E-NIT No. 03/CE/PMGSY/KMR of 2026-27, dated June 15, 2026.

The Uri project, tendered under Package No. JK03-4544, covers the construction and maintenance of the road from L028 (Link Road) Bimyar to Mooriya via Pethgrann. The Sopore project, under Package No. JK03-4011, covers the construction and maintenance of the road from L075 (Link Road) Bomia-Harwan-Zaloora (3rd KM) to Yemberzaewari.

Un Nabi said Er Rashid had raised the issues with the authorities through letters from jail via his lawyer. In D.O. Letter No. MP/BLA/2025/77, dated July 2, 2025, addressed to the Secretary, Roads & Buildings Department, he had sought the repair and upgradation of the Harwan to Marble Road via Yemberzalwari in Sopore.

Similarly, through D.O. Letter No. MP/BLA/2025/81, dated July 24, 2025, addressed to the Principal Secretary, Public Works (R and B) Department, Er Rashid had sought the upgradation of the Government High School Bimyar to Ziarat Sharif Moriyan Road in Uri.

Un Nabi welcomed the approval of the projects and said they would improve connectivity and ease difficulties faced by residents of the affected areas.

He expressed hope that the executing agencies would complete the works within the stipulated timeframe and ensure adherence to quality standards.
