TRAIN TUNNEL (12)

In a first, Indian Railways is planning to run two superfast trains on Srinagar-Banihal track. The decision in this regard has already been taken by the authorities in Indian Railways.

The trains, sources say, will ply on a daily basis.

The train will cover the distance from Srinagar to Banihal and vice versa in one hour minimising the travel time by one hour. It, the sources added, will have only one stop at Islamabad railway station.

Union railways minister Suresh Prabhu was to flag off the train but owing to the health condition of Chief Minister Mufti Syed, it was postponed.

Notably Indian railways runs eight trains on Baramulla-Banihal track and thousands of commuters travel in those on a daily basis.
