Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed that it prevented two youth from joining militant ranks in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A police spokesman in a statement said that acting on a specific input Police in Awantipora were able to prevent two youth from joining militant ranks.

“As per police, two youth from Tral and Awantipora areas were planning to join militant ranks. These youth had been indoctrinated and were influenced by the false narratives,” said the spokesman.

“Accordingly, Awantipora police counselled the youth in presence of their family members thereby preventing them from joining the militant ranks,” he said.

“Later on the youths were handed over to their family members,” said a police spokesman in a statement.
