The state government has recruited two Udhampur youth in police service who caught hold of militant involved in Udhampur attack.

The two youth: Rakesh Sharma and Vikramjeet held alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Mohammad Naved alias Mohammad Usman at village Chirdi in Udhampur district last week.

“The J&K police have issued an appointment order for Rakesh Sharma as constable and recommended the government for relaxation of qualification bar in favour of Vikramjeet for his appointment as follower in the police force,” as per an Indian Express report.

The state police have also recommended to the state government names of Rakesh and Vikramjeet for the prestigious Shaurya Chakra Award to be conferred on the occasion of August 15 function.

The militants had ambushed a convoy of BSF personnel and opened fire in which two constables and a militant were killed while another militant was caught alive.

Earlier, state Health Minister also announced a cash prize of Rs 50000 and a house each to the duo.
