Expressing strong resentment over the “hooliganism” of communal and fascist forces in Udhampur, the Democratic Freedom Party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah Saturday said if strong resistance is not shown against the same, the situation may go out of control.

He termed the “murderous” attack on Kashmiri traders and drivers in Udhampur as “intolerable” and said it is a step towards enforcing the economic blockade to valley.

“If the communal elements want to do so, we have the option of ‘Rawalpindi Way’ and for trade connection with Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. And all impediments in this regard should be removed,” he said.

Shah while commenting on the activities of communal forces said they are hell bent to divide the Jammu Kashmir and “government machinery is encouraging them by not taking any action against these elements”.

He demanded strict action against those involved in setting ablaze the vehicles and attacking the Kashmiri traders and drivers. He also expressed sympathy and solidarity with the injured and those suffering losses.

Shah appealed the world community to take notice of such situation in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and facilitate the trade connection between Kashmir and Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

“The world community must also facilitate the opening of Jhelum Valley Road,” he said. “These all incidents are happening due to the provocative and communal statement of RSS leader Leela Krishen.”
