The death toll reached 23, including 12 women, 9 male and 2 infants in Udhampur bus mishap. The incident has left 37 others injured.
The mishap happened when a passenger bus travelling from Dodu to Udhampur skidded off the road at Latti and rolled down into the 200 feet deep gorge on Monday.
“The injured are being hospitalised,” said a police official from Latti. “Six injured were air-lifted.” He said the rescue operation is still going on.
The critically injured people are being hospitalised in Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed expressed his deep shock and grief over the death of two dozen persons in a tragic bus accident.
In his condolence message, Sayeed conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.
