The event, which featured panel discussions on enhancing service delivery through Aadhaar, highlighted the rapid adoption of the AI/ML-powered face authentication solution. The number of cumulative transactions doubled from 50 crore to 100 crore in just five months, underscoring its growing popularity across diverse sectors, including banking, telecommunications, and government services.

Speaking at the event, S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, described Aadhaar as the foundational layer of India’s digital public infrastructure and encouraged UIDAI to continue empowering citizens by improving ease of living. Bhuvnesh Kumar, CEO of UIDAI, emphasised Aadhaar’s transformative role in fostering trust in digital transactions, while Neelkanth Mishra, Chairman of UIDAI, reiterated Aadhaar’s potential to simplify lives and strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem.

“Our vision is to make life easier for Aadhaar number holders by facilitating smooth service delivery,” said Kumar, thanking the Maharashtra government for hosting the event.

The stakeholders’ meet featured four panel discussions led by industry leaders, focusing on integrating face authentication into banking, enhancing service delivery for fintech and non-banking financial companies, and improving Aadhaar authentication at telecom service providers. Participants also explored frameworks for a safer digital future. Insights from these discussions will guide future improvements in service delivery.

This was the second edition of the Aadhaar Samvaad series, following the inaugural event in Bengaluru in November 2024.

Aadhaar’s face authentication technology is an advanced, contactless modality that enables users to verify their identity with a simple face scan. Widely used across 92 government and private entities, it offers a robust alternative for individuals facing challenges with fingerprint authentication, such as senior citizens and manual workers.

The system is designed with stringent security measures, including safeguards against video replay and static photo authentication attempts, and is compatible with Android and iOS platforms. Its adoption has streamlined the delivery of government benefits and enhanced convenience for users across the country.
