The Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad’s Sayeed’s visit to South Kashmir Islamabad district on Saturday was a blessing in disguise for the people of the town. People of scores of areas who continuously hit to streets on daily basis against the unattended garbage and stinking streets were amazed to see garbage free sites and clean and cleared roads, reason the presence of Chief Minister in the town.

Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed visited several educational institutes and hospitals of Islamabad on Saturday. The authorities especially the district administration had cleared all the bottlenecks on the town roads and streets while nowhere in the town garbage was found on Saturday.

Reports said that Municipal Council Anantang used its manpower shortly before the arrival of the Chief Minister and lifted the heaps of garbage from the different locations of the town. “When we used to protest and request MC Anantnag to lift this garbage, the officials always turned a blind eye, but today we all were surprised to see garbage free roads,” said a group of locals from Kadipora.

“Heaps of garbage had piled up on the roadside in the main markets of Islamabad town. The dirt and garbage used to stink while the district administration and Municipal Council were not even going for disinfectant sprays like phenyl to avoid spread of diseases,” Muneeb Ahmed told CNS.

In wake of Chief Minister’s visit, not a single street vendor was allowed to occupy space anywhere in the town. Roads and footpaths were clear from all the vendors resulting in the smooth flow of traffic. “The overnight lifting of garbage and clearing of roads from street vendors was an attempt to hoodwink Chief Minister that everything is all right in the town. The reality is that with the departure of the CM, nobody will come to lift the garbage and vendors will again occupy the roads illegally,” said a local of Reshibazar Islamabad.

Meanwhile, journalist fraternity alleged that security staff of Chief Minister misbehaved with them while the camera of one of the video journalist was snatched and damaged by these security guards. “CM Security did not allow us to interact with the Chief Minister. They not only misbehaved with us but also manhandled some locals who had arrived outside District Hospital Islamabad to highlight their grievances before the Chief Minister,” said a scribe.
