Unidentified Body Recovered in Bemina; Two Arrested for Culpable Homicide

   

SRINAGAR: Srinagar Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a culpable homicide case in Bemina, following an investigation into the recovery of an unidentified male body.

According to a post on X by Srinagar Police, on February 17, 2025, Police Station Bemina received information from reliable sources about an unidentified male body lying in the flood spill channel near Darul-Uloom, Bemina.

A police team from PS Bemina, along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Mobile Unit from DPL Srinagar and a crime photographer from PCR Srinagar, immediately reached the spot to investigate. Relevant evidence was collected, and proceedings under provisions of 194 BNSS were initiated.

The police stated that preliminary inquiry suggested culpable homicide not amounting to murder. As a result, an FIR No. 13/2025 under Sections 105, 238, and 241 of the BNS was registered at PS Bemina, and an investigation was launched.

During the probe, two suspects were identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Machloo, son of Ali Mohammad and Muneer Ahmad Sofi, son of Bashir Ahmed Sofi.

Both accused were found involved in the crime and subsequently arrested. Police have confirmed that further investigation into the case is ongoing. (JKNS)
