Unknown masked men allegedly attacked the house of senior Peoples Democratic Party leader and former Forest Minister, Sofi Ghulam Mohi-u-Din in North Kahsmir’s Handwara town.

Quoting police sources a local news gathering agency CNS said that “miscreants pelted stones from all sides of the house of the PDP leader during the intervening night of Aug 14 and 15.”

“At first we thought it was a militant attack. The miscreants smashed all the windowpanes of our house and fled from the scene. My father was not present in the house,” the son of Sofi, Irfan Ahmed told CNS.

Superintendent of Police Handwara, Chowdhari Mohammad Aslam said that as the news reached to him he immediately dispatched some security personnel to guard the house. “We have taken up the investigation and hopefully these miscreants would be held soon,” he said.
