Army on Monday claimed to have killed a militant in Kamla forest area of Buchoo in Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district after brief firefight.

Defence ministry spokesman, Colonel Brijesh Panday, in a statement issued to GNS said: “ Consequent to the recent attack by militants on the security forces army had intensified search operations at places from where inputs about likely presence of militants was being received. One such operation at  Kamla Top resulted in contact being established South of Hurdu Mir area of Tral…,” adding: “The militants were effectively engaged and one militant was eliminated.”

The senior official claimed that 2 AK 47 rifles and ‘war like stores’ were recovered from the spot and added that the operation is in progress. However, the identity of the suspected militant was not revealed.

Meanwhile, official sources said the army has detained three unidentified persons from the same spot where it claimed to have killed the militant.

Sources said the youth are being questioned by army at an undisclosed place
