SRINAGAR

Pro-freedom camp has already started its poll boycott campaign ahead of 2014 assembly polls.

All parties hurriyat conference (m) Tuesday organised a seminar “Shuhada Ka Khoon Zulm u Tashadud Pey Bari Hai – Ek Musalimah Hakeekat” under the “Hafta-e-Shahadat” programme at its Headquarters here, a party statement issued here said.

The seminar was presided over by APHC (m) chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front chairperson, Muhammad Yasin Malik was the guest of honour on the occasion.

Besides, senior Hurriyat leaders including Bilal Gani Lone, Moulana Abbas Ansari, Kashmir High Court Bar Association former president, Advocate Nazir Ahmad Ronga participated in the seminar.

Speaking on the occasion, Yasin Malik paid glowing tributes to “Shaheed-e-Millat, Shaheed-e-Hurriyat and Martyrs of Kashmir”.

Malik said the problems and challenges that Kashmiri nation was facing at this juncture while struggling for their legitimate rights and the way government was using all “tactics of oppression and suppression” to get the people of Kashmir on their knees could only be countered by displaying complete unity among ourselves and steadfastness towards the cause.

The JKLF chief said every nation of the world has remained under occupation at some time in their history and no struggle for freedom has ever failed. He said the freedom struggle of Kashmir too would, Insha Allah, reach its logical conclusion.

On the occasion, the Hurriyat leaders paid glowing tributes to the “Martyrs of Kashmir” and said truth always prevails in the end while the oppressors always end up losers.

“The struggle of Kashmiris is based on just principles and Kashmiris have offered innumerable sacrifices of life and property for the cause of freedom. They called upon the entire nation to keep those sacrifices in mind while showing steadfastness and consistency for carrying the ongoing resistance movement forward,” they said.

In his presidential address, Mirwaiz welcomed all guests including Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairperson, Muhammad Yasin Malik to the seminar. He said APHC (m) has not only been supporting unity but has also been making efforts at its level to achieve it.

Paying rich tributes to “Shaheed-e-Millat, Shaheed-e-Hurriyat, Martyrs of Hawal and other martyrs of Kashmir”, the APHC (m) chairperson said these “martyrs” had given the ultimate sacrifice of their lives for the great cause and have thus put enormous responsibility on our shoulders.

He said the aim of observing “Haftaa-e-Shahadat” programme was to remember their sacrifices and to fulfill the responsibilities while taking the mission of “martyrs” forward.

Stressing that Kashmir issue was related to the people’s aspirations and emotions, Mirwaiz said the unity among the people, in the past, had foiled the designs of the oppressors to crush our legitimate movement and expressed hope that people would also fight such attempts in unison in future as well.

“If anyone takes one step towards us, we would take 10 steps forward, but warned that politics of force and pressure is not going to be acceptable.”

Terming the unity among the resistance leadership as the need of the hour, the APHC (m) chairperson said that the ongoing “resistance movement” must be taken ahead by developing a consensus on the strategy of carrying forward the movement.

He said people in power in Srinagar and New Delhi were using all possible “tactics and propaganda” to break the resolve of Kashmiris.

Mirwaiz said in the name of Pandit colonies and Sainik colonies, these people were trying to damage the disputed character of Jammu and Kashmir and weaken us economically and politically by executing these plans.

He said that under a well designed conspiracy some agencies were promoting a particular thought to divide people on sectarian lines and damage the centuries old mutual brother hood, harmony and approach of co-existence among various communities in Kashmir.

“Kashmir’s resistance struggle is legitimate, and suppression, aggression, curbs, detentions and killings or human rights violations would not stop the people of Kashmir from carrying forward their struggle.”

Appealing the people to make the May 21 public rally at Martyrs Graveyard Eidgah a success, Mirwaiz said there would be complete shutdown in entire Kashmir on this day and the people of Kashmir will take a pledge at Martyrs Graveyard to take the “mission of the martyrs” to its logical conclusion.

The APHC (m) chairperson said on May 21, Hurriyat leaders would lead public rallies from different places of Kashmir towards Eidgah Srinagar. Bilal Gani Lone from Kupwara, Moulana Abbas Ansari from Pattan, Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat from Baramulla, Musadiq Adil from Sopore, Mukhtar Waza from Islamabad whereas Advocate Shahid ul Islam, Javaid Ahmad Mir and Hilal Ahmad War will lead the rallies from different parts of Srinagar to Martyrs Graveyard at Eidgah while Mirwaiz himself will lead a public rally from the historic Mirwaiz Manzil, Rajouri Kadal.
