SRINAGAR: A woman was reported killed and another person survived injured after attacked by unknown gunmen at Narbal area of Kakapora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.

A police officer told local news gatherer GNS that some unknown gunmen barged into the residence of Nageena Jan wife of late Mohammad Yousuf Lone and opened fire upon her.

In the incident, Nageena suffered critical bullet wounds and died instantly while as another person namely Jalaludin Bhufanda also suffered bullet injuries, he said.

The injured persons were immediately shifted to a nearby health facility at Kakpora wherefrom he was referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment, he said. It was at Kakpora PHC where the day was declared dead.

Pertinently, Mohammad Yousuf Lone, husband of Nageena Jan was also killed by some unknown gunmen on May 19, 2017.

He said that soon after the incident a joint team of army and SOG launched a hunt to nab the assailants.

Police issued the following statement:

“Terrorists today fired upon two civilians including a lady identified as Nigeena Bano daughter of Mohammad Ramzan and Jalal-ud-din Bafanda son of Mohammad Sultan, both residents of Singoo Narbal in district Pulwama.

In this incident, both the civilians received critical gunshot wounds. Both were evacuated to a nearby hospital for medical treatment however Nigeena Bano succumbed to her injuries.

Jalal-ud-din continues to receive treatment at the hospital.

Police has registered a case under relevant sections in the instant matter. Officers from the local police station are investigating the circumstances of this terror crime.”
