Unknown gunmen Tuesday evening attacked a security picket in South Kashmir.  According to reports, the picket guards house of Peer Muhammad Shafi at Badoora Achabal. Shafi is relative of Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti.

Meanwhile, gunshots were heard late Tuesday evening in South Kashmir’s Lassipora Pulwama.

According to reports, there was brief exchange of fire between militants and police. The incident occurred after a police party stopped a load carrier for checking.

Later militants along with load carrier driver fled from the spot. “Taking advantage of darkness, they fled from the spot,” police official told Kashmir Life.

He said a search operation has been launched to nab the militants.
