A residential house of the BJP candidate suffered a minor damage after unknown men attacked her residential house in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday evening.

Official sources said that a petrol bomb was hurled on the house of BJP candidate Tabasum Manzoor at Mohalla Mir sahib Baramulla, resulting in damage to the house. Tabassum was not present when her house was attacked.

However, Apart from the minor damage to the house, there were no immediate reports of any loss. Tabassum  Mazoor, a BJP candidate has contested the civic polls election from Bagh-e-Islam Baramulla.

The district remained peaceful throughout the day. A senior officer said 1340 voters came out and participated against the registered 26000 plus votes. The old town remained on boycott while as the new town actually participated.

“The problem here was lack of choice because the political parties stayed away,” the officer said.  Baramulla registered a participation of 5.1 percent. Residents said the army had thrown a sort of a siege around the town.
