Panic gripped among protestors after a security guard accompanying an unknown politician fired some bullets in air when the gypsy they were travelling in came under attack from stone-pelters.

Police sources said that soon after Friday prayers, scores of youth took to streets and staged an anti-Israel protest. As the protests were going on at Nowhatta Chowk, a government gypsy passed through the road that came under attack from the protestors.

“Some youth pelted stones on it while a security guard probably of a politician came down from the vehicle and resorted to aerial firing. The unknown security guard fired at least three bullets in air that created panic in the area,” a police official wishing not to be named said.

Eyewitnesses said that protestors tried to corner the gypsy amid firing shots, however, it managed to escape from the scene through Malarata locality.

“We are trying to find out who this security guard was but the initial investigation has revealed that it was a government gypsy,” a police official said. (CNS)
