Residents of Uri Monday held a protest demonstration against the Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) and locked employees of the department in the office.

The protesting residents said that they are not getting clean drinking water while the bills are sent regularly to their homes. “Post floods lakhs of rupees have been spent on water pipelines and other water supply schemes, however, we they are yet to be completed,” they said.

As a result, we are yet to receive clean water supply to our homes, the residents said.

They further said that the residents who do not get water to their homes and collect it from public places have also been sent the bills.

SHO Tabraiz Ahmad Khan, later, reached the spot and pacified the protesting residents. He assured the residents that their issues will be brought in to the notice of higher authorities.

The SHO also broke open the lock of the department and let the employees free.
