SRINAGAR: The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra has been temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure following an inclement weather advisory issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), authorities said.
The suspension has been ordered to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims in view of the forecast of adverse weather conditions in the region.
Authorities have advised devotees to cooperate with the administration and refrain from undertaking the pilgrimage until further orders.
Pilgrims have also been urged to follow official communication channels for updates regarding weather conditions and the resumption of the Yatra.
The temporary suspension comes as parts of Jammu and Kashmir are expected to witness unfavourable weather, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures to safeguard public safety.
