Remembering the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his assurance of resolving Kashmir on ‘humanitarian grounds’, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday asserted that the promises of India’s former premier remained ‘Ignored’ and ‘unfulfilled’.

The KNS correspondent reports said that the senior separatist leader while addressing the inaugural function of ‘Syed Ali Geelani’ blood donation camp stated that the disputes perturbing the globe at present are because the values of humanity and justice are being undermined with the basic rights of people being denied at large.

Geelani in his 12 minute address said that the people of Kashmir for the first time heard any Indian prime minister stating that Kashmir issue shall be resolved on the humanitarian grounds. “Earlier no other prime minister of India had issued the statement of such nature but unfortunately nothing came out of that assurance and it again was ignored as another broken promise.”

Geelani further maintained that issues pertaining to Humanity must be addressed on humanitarian bases and that this is the only way to end world cries that has endangered the human values all around. “I want to tell you that issues cannot be resolved until they are seen with the human values and addressed within humanity’s ambit.”

The senior separatist leader maintained that there must be an assertion from all the sides that issues and problems being faced by the humanity must be resolved and everyone here should strive for the same.

Interestingly, the statement about Vajpayee is first of its kind issued by the octogenarian leader, Syed Ali Geelani  as earlier he slammed the former Indian premier by stating that he had no policy vis-à-vis Kashmir resolution.
