SRINAGAR

Minister of State for Power, Industries and Commerce, Mohammad Ashraf Mir while replying to a Calling Attention Notice by Aijaz Ahmed Mir in Legislative Assembly Wednesday said that the power supply to the consumers of the Kashmir Valley which includes Wachi constituency is being provided as per curtailment schedule according to which an average cut of 3 hours per day and 8 hours per day is being implemented in fully metered and non metered areas respectively.

According to an official statement, the Minister said that at times, department is compelled to resort to unscheduled cuts due to the reason that consumers use load in excess of their agreement load.

“During peak hours, there are instances, when the total load on the system exceeds to such levels which are beyond the entitled power quota. Accordingly, department is constrained to enforce unscheduled cuts,” he added.

“In addition, technical constraints of 33 KV Feeders, Receiving Stations, 11 KV Feeders and Grid Stations in some areas also necessitates unscheduled cuts. Efforts are always made to restrict these cuts to minimum duration by employing rotational procedure,” he said.

The statement further mentioned that the Minister said that only one Feeder namely Zainapora Feeder of Receiving Station Chitragam, feeding about 1100 metered consumers is being provided metered supply as per the curtailment schedule.
