Authorities have imposed restrictions in some parts of the Srinagar city on Wednesday as the valley is observing shut-down against the killing of two youths by the hands of army in Budgam district.

Restrictions are in place in the areas falling under Khanyar, Nowhatta, MR Gunj, Rainawari, Safakadal and Nowgam police stations “to maintain law and order”. People of Nowgam area have alleged that they are not being allowed to reach the victim families freely.

All the separatist leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik and Shabir Shah have called for a protest shutdown against the killing of Faisal Yusuf Bhat and Mehrajuddin Dar in Army firing on Monday in Chattergam village.

Though Shah and Malik are languishing in jails however their parties have issued shutdown call while as Geelani and Mirwaiz too have called for a shutdown during their house detention.

Two youths were also injured in Chattergam Army firing on Monday. All the four belonged to Nowgam area of Srinagar city.

Reports of shutdown have reached from all the district and tehsils headquarters of the valley. Srinagar roads are deserted barring and only a few private vehicles are seen plying.
