SRINAGAR: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jammu, Rakesh Kumar, has imposed a fine of Rs 3.64 lakh on various businesses for violating the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006. The penalties were levied against manufacturers, distributors, and retailers found selling substandard and misbranded food products in the district.
Authorities have taken strict action to uphold food quality standards and prevent the sale of unsafe consumables. Businesses have been directed to maintain hygiene and sanitation, conduct regular quality checks, and ensure proper labeling and packaging as per FSSAI guidelines. They are also required to train staff in safe food handling practices to prevent contamination and adulteration.
The administration has issued a stern warning to all commercial establishments, urging strict compliance with food safety regulations to avoid legal consequences.
