Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir Prof Talat Ahmad Friday inaugurated a two day campus recruitment drive for PG students of Management, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, B. Pharma and M. Pharma.
A high level delegation from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) visited KU to offer employment opportunities for the students. Speaking at the inaugural function Prof Ahmad said the TCS is one of the premier IT service companies of the country.
He added that massive recruitment drives launched by the TCS, in Jammu & Kashmir will give confidence to other corporate houses to recruit from the state. The VC said that the University will mobilize all its resources to create employment opportunities for the talented youth of the state. Prof Ahmad said that the university has as per the demands of the industry, to make the students industry ready, to actively collaborate with the industry to provide industrial exposure to the students of various disciplines and to enhance employability of the students through training and to provide an integrated platform for recruitment.
Director Centre for Career Planning and Counselling, KU Prof Shabir A Bhat presented an overview of the achievements of the Career Planning and Counselling. He added that the centre has focussed its efforts to attract the leading national and multinational companies and informed the audience that some of the leading companies of the country like TCS, Wipro, Ligare, HUL and ONGC have already recruited from the state and premier companies like HCL info- systems is scheduled to visit this month.
Head of the recruitment team from TCS Faiz Ahmad said that their company is always looking for bright and talented youth and Kashmiri youth are highly competent and capable.

TCS is engaged in providing information technology (IT) services, business solutions and outsourcing. The Company’s services portfolio consists of application development and maintenance, business intelligence, enterprise solutions, assurance, engineering and industrial services, IT infrastructure services, business process outsourcing, consulting and asset leveraged solutions. The company intends to recruit these post graduates and place them in management and executive positions of the company.
