SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Central Kashmir’s Budgam have taken two separate actions to reinforce law and order in the district — attaching a vehicle used in terror-related activities and arresting an individual in possession of a contraband substance.
In the first incident, police attached a vehicle under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. “The vehicle, an Innova bearing registration number JK01AT-7604, was found linked to a terror module. It was in the possession of Mudasir Ahmad Rather, a resident of Kantbagh Kralpora, Budgam. The seizure was carried out under Section 25 of the UAPA in connection with FIR No. 151/2024 registered at Police Station Chadoora,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
In a separate development, a drug peddler was arrested at Karipora Crossing near Railway Station Budgam. “A police team from Police Station Budgam intercepted a suspicious individual identified as Sajad Rafiq Bhat, son of Rafiq Ahmad Bhat, resident of Muqdam Mohallah Sheikpora Budgam. During the search, approximately 9.9 grams of a heroin-like substance were recovered from his possession.”
The accused was taken into custody, and a case under FIR No. 83/2025 has been registered at Police Station Budgam. Further investigation is underway.
