CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has termed VHP’s statement on discussion on repeal of 298 A, 298 B, 298 C and 298 D of Ranbir Panel Code as “provocative and disastrous”.
Tarigami said RSS and its byproducts are hell-bent to disrupt the communal and pluralistic ethos of Jammu and Kashmir and have now, unfortunately, started undermining the legitimacy of legislative assembly.
“VHP and its ilk should try to comprehend that constitutional matters cannot be sorted out on streets and through threats of economic blockades or hooliganism. Such matters are discussed and deliberated upon in the august house of legislature,” the CPI (M) leader emphasized.
While having due regard for aspirations of each community, he said that it has to be ensured that there is no encroachment in the fundamental rights of the personal life, freedom and liberty of the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir.
He cautioned the people to remain vigilant against attempts being made by communal forces to create a regional wedge between Jammu and Kashmir.
