SRINAGAR: In his departing speech to the personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police, DGP Dilbagh Singh said the peace is restored but needs to be guarded. He made a lengthy speech to the personnel before an emotional send-off.

Singh superannuated on October 31, 2023, after putting in 37 years in the police force. He said he had used a horse-cart for movement during his probation days in Handwara as a local Masjid became his praying place. During militancy, he survived two militant attacks while serving Kupwara. He said his tenure as DGP saw the killing of 1055 militants as 1448 of their supporters were arrested. It also saw the Police force getting an Ashok Chakra, three Kirti Chakra, 13 Shaurya Chakra, and 887 Police Medals.
