SRINAGAR: A village panch died after a fire broke out at his residence in Udhampur’s Panchari tehsil on Monday, officials said. The deceased has been identified as Panch Gyan Chand son of Dhani Ram of Panchayat Katti of Panchari tehsil.
Witnesses said that fire broke out on Saturday night in the house of Panch Gyan Chand. While the rest of the family members came out safely from the house, Gyan Chand got trapped inside and died of severe burns. The body was taken out in the morning and was sent to PHC Pancheri for post-mortem.
