Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday asked state government employees to wait for two more years before her government implements seventh pay commission.

Speaking in the Legislative Council of J&K Legislature, Ms Mehbooba appealed all the employees and their unions to wait at least two more years for “benefits because of bad financial position of the state”.

She said that the government has many issues in the form of liabilities, provident fund issues, etc.

“If 61,000 casual employees are regularized then the government needs to defer the pay commission for at least two years,” she said.

The recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission were implemented by the Union government three days ago which will benefit over one crore Union government employees and pensioners.
