Srinagar: Police on Wednesday disallowed the Class 11 students to protest at Press Enclave in Srinagar and sought permission from the agitating students.

Reports said that scores of the students from various schools including the Tyndale Biscoe School, SP Higher Secondary School, Green Valley Educational Institute and other schools assembled in press enclave Srinagar to protest against the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education’s decision to hold the examinations in October.

The students alleged that as they started to protest, a group of policemen who were already deployed outside Press Enclave stopped them from protesting. The students were later put in the police vehicle and were taken to the Directorate of School Education Office for the permission.

Earlier, the students in north Kashmir blocked the Srinagar-Kupwara highway at Sopore market to protest against the authorities’ decision.

From past few days, the students from class 10th to 12th are seeking deferment of their annual exams to mid-November citing non-completion of the syllabus in schools.
