The army on Sunday claimed to have recovered a war-like store of arms from north Kashmir’s Machil sector.

”Based on tip off provided by a reliable source of a cache of warlike stores approximately 200-300 mtrs towards this side of Line of Control, an army column of Rashtriya Rifles Battalion launched a search operation in general area Lashdat Nar in Machhal Sector on 08 Jun 2013.  The search party discovered a natural opening in the hollow of a tree trunk. Search of the opening revealed presence of large quantities of warlike stores including weapons, ammunition and explosives”, a defence spokesman said here.

He said the recovery of the cache is a major success achieved by army in the Machhal Sector.  “The troops of the Rashtriya Rifles recovered one AK-56 rifle with three magazines and 90 rounds, two pistols (Pakistan and Chinese make), two RPG grenades and explosive contained in two cylindrical cases.”, he said

The surgical conduct of operations along with development of good intelligence indicate a high level of professionalism on part of the security forces and good local support enjoyed by the army that led to quick and accurate dissemination of actionable intelligence and ensuring success in the operation, the spokesman added.
