Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (J&KPCC) vice-president and MLC G N Monga Thursday asked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership not to play more politics over the formation of government with the BJP and instead clear its stand once for all.

“PDP leadership claims that Agenda of Alliance reached with BJP last year is sacred. If it (Agenda of Alliance) was sacred, was it without Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) which PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and others speak now,” Monga said in a statement to KNS.

Stating that situation on the ground was turning worrisome every day due to the stalemate and PDP’s indecision he said, “Mehbooba should either say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to the government formation so that the uncertainty could end without further delay.” “People are suffering immensely due to the present stalemate and last year also PDP kept people waiting for more than two months.”

“If for the 10 months PDP leadership often used to claim this (PDP-BJP) alliance was the best in the history of the state what happened all of a sudden that they now need more CBMs?” the Congress leader asked.

“If PDP wants reassurances people will ask them what they were doing for past 10 months? What measures have they taken to mitigate the sufferings of the people of the state? Their (PDP’s) own statements contradict their stand,” he said and added by a nuanced blame game, the PDP appears to be trying to don the mantle of “martyrhood”.

Blaming both the PDP and the BJP for the present political crisis in the State, Monga said, “People of J&K have been worst hit by absence of an elected government. There is no one to listen and address the issues concerning people.”
