As the water level is continuously rising, administration late Sunday evening sounded flood in Srinagar and adjoining areas.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone while talking to Kashmir Life said that  water level of river Jehlum at Ram Mushi has crossed 16 feet and they have issued flood alert for the people living on the both sides of the river.

“We request people living on the both sides of Jehlum to remain vigilant,” he told Kashmir Life over phone.

Dr Lone further said that “old men, women and children may be shifted to safer places.”

To deal with any type of eventuality, DC also instructed all the employees involved in flood protection measures to report for duty at their respective stations.
