SRINAGAR

Several areas of Srinagar city have been facing acute shortage of drinking water with locals accusing the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department of being indifferent towards their problems.

“Our taps are running dry from several days. We have to fetch water from other areas. We had apprised the PHE authorities to look into the matter; however our requests were met with deaf ears,” said Bashir Ahmed, a resident of Zafar Colony Natipora.

Rambagh, Natipora, interiors of Alochi Bagh and Nowgam residents have also been complaining of water scarcity and appealed to the Chief Engineer PHE to look into the matter.

“It has been three days now and we are still living without water. We don’t even receive water from tankers,” said residents of Alochibagh.

Demanding immediate restoration of water supply, residents said they have been facing hardships due to water scarcity for the past four days.

Chief Engineer PHE said that he would look into the matter.
