Massive traffic jam was witnessed at Hygam Chowk in North Kashmir’s Sopore area after scores of women protesters blocked the arterial route along Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway against the water shortage.
Protesters from the Trumbgund village laid boulders on the road to prevent the vehicular movement as a result over hundreds of vehicles are stranded.
“We are without water supply from last three days,” a protester told Kashmir Life. “Today we won’t relent unless we get the meaningful assurances from the authorities.”
The beeline of vehicles, eye witnesses said exceeded more than 5 KM. Protesters didn’t even let the army convoy to pass through which eventually had to take U-turn. Some vehicles took alternative route from Choora to Bypass the tiresome snarl which begun in 10:30 in morning.
