SRINAGAR: Water supply to several areas of Srinagar city and adjoining areas is likely to remain affected on September 27 and 28 due to a sudden reduction in discharge in the SP canal by the PDC authorities, the Water Works Division Srinagar said in a public notice issued on Sunday.
According to the notice, the reduced discharge has affected the water supply in the SE Canal, consequently impacting the raw water supply to the Water Treatment Plants at Alusteng and Rangil.
The affected areas include Zakura, Gulab Bagh, Alusteng, Khalmulla, Habak, Naseem Bagh, Busserbugh, Malla Bagh, Pandach, Buchpora, Soura, Anchar, Bohlouchpora, Zoonimar, Nowshera, Bagh-i-Ali Mardan Khan, Zadibal, Hawal, Alamgari Bazar, Rajouri Kadal, Nallahmar, Nawakad al, Bohri Kadal, Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Sadibal, Nigeen, Saida Kadal, parts of Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowpora, Nawab Bazar, Ganpatyar, Habba Kadal, Baghatunpora, Basant Bagh, Chota Bazar, Karan Nagar, Chattabal, Kawdara, Eidgah, Maharaj Gunj, Zaina Kadal, Saidpora, Firdous Abad, and parts of Batamaloo and Qamarwari, besides adjoining areas.
The department has advised residents in the affected areas to store sufficient water to meet their requirements during the period.
For complaints or grievances related to water scarcity or shortage, the public has been asked to contact the PHE Provincial Control Room, which remains operational round the clock.
