He, however, said that the intensity of rain is not expected to be high. “Though the rains will occur most of the places in state from Thursday to Friday but there is no warning or weather advisory needed,” he said.
Meanwhile heavy rainfall and landslides at many places forced authorities to close the Srinagar-Jammu highway on Sunday.
The pilgrimage to the cave of Amarnath was also suspended from both the routes in view of inclement weather.
“The yatra was suspended from both Baltal and Pahalgam routes due to rains which made the track slippery,” police said.
Reports said that heavy rainfalls since early morning triggered landslides at some places along the 300-km Srinagar-Jammu Highway leading to its blockade.
Authorities also informed that the alternative Mughal road too was closed for any vehicular movement. “The rains caused landslides at many places due to which the road was closed,” one of the government official said.
