The Jammu and Kashmir meteorological department has forecasted weather to remain dry till January 10, 2018.

An official of the Met Department said that the weather conditions across the Valley would improve from today afternoon but the weather in the day (Sunday) would remain mostly cloudy.

He said the night’s lowest temperature in Srinagar was minus 1.2 degree Celsius while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 0.6 degrees Celsius.

Gulmarg, the famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 9.0 degrees Celsius.

The night temperature in Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra – settled at a low of minus 7.9 degrees.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 2.2 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 4.2 degrees Celsius last night.

At minus 18.6 degrees Celsius Kargil was the coldest town in the state, and Leh at minus 10.3.

Jammu city had 7.4 degree Celsius, Katra 9.2, Batote minus 0.8, Bannihal minus 0.5 and Bhaderwah 1.3 as the minimum temperatures.
