SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather told National Conference MLA Mubarak Gul that his remarks in Kashmiri would not be recorded in the House as the legislator raised the issue of the language not being taught in schools.
Gul raised the matter during Zero Hour on Tuesday, speaking in Kashmiri and questioning the absence of Kashmiri language teaching in schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas and other prominent educational institutions.
He also said the issue was prevalent in the Pir Panjal region.
Responding to Gul, Rather said the Assembly did not have an arrangement to translate remarks made in Kashmiri and, therefore, they would not be recorded.
“Whatever you will speak in Kashmiri here will not be recorded,” the Speaker told the MLA.
“I have earlier informed you about this issue,” Rather added.
